Inside Reverie Haze: A Conversation with Principal Perfumer Marc Daniel Heimgartner
In the world of niche perfumery, certain fragrances linger not only on the skin, but in the mind. Reverie Haze, the newest fragrance from Electimuss, is one such creation, a luminous white floral perfume that explores intimacy, sensuality and the emotional power of scent.
Built around tuberose, rose, oud, and musk, Reverie Haze sits at the intersection of modern floral perfumery and timeless craftsmanship. To understand the soul of the fragrance, we spoke with its creator, Marc Daniel Heimgartner, to explore the stories behind the ingredients, his creative process, and his vision for the future of fragrance.
A Constellation of Ingredients
Q: Reverie Haze feels rich yet intimate. How did you approach selecting the ingredients?
Marc Daniel:
“I wanted to craft a constellation of ingredients - each one chosen for its story, its soul.
The white Polianthes tuberosa is mysterious, narcotic and like a second skin. It gives this creation its luminous, addictive aura.”
At the heart of Reverie Haze lies white Polianthes tuberosa, a flower long revered in perfumery for its intoxicating duality. Unlike lighter spring florals, tuberose is complex and evolving. It blooms slowly, revealing creamy, green and honeyed facets that feel both radiant and intimate, making it the perfect muse for a fragrance centred on closeness and emotion.
“Saffron glows within it, a golden flame that warms and illuminates. I chose it for its modern, velvety effect - rich and textured.”
To illuminate the floral heart, Marc Daniel chose saffron, one of perfumery’s most precious spices. Used sparingly, saffron adds warmth and subtle spice, enhancing the skin-like sensuality of tuberose without overwhelming it.
A playful tropical fruit accord introduces brightness and contrast. Rather than sweetness for its own sake, the fruit accord adds lift and movement, echoing light filtering through mist in the early hours of the day. For depth and texture, Marc Daniel turned to molecular-distilled patchouli.
Finally, the composition is crowned with oud, one of the most revered ingredients in perfumery. The result is a fragrance that feels layered, evolving and quietly powerful.
“I let both its natural traces and an enhanced accord speak, to honour its singular, magnetic character.”
Naturals, Molecules and Accords: Finding Balance
Q: How do you balance natural ingredients, synthetics and accords in your work?
Marc Daniel:
“It is like a golden ratio. Naturals bring authenticity - the raw beauty of earth. Modern molecules add clarity and precision, like chiselling a sculpture, and accords are harmonised blends. Alone, each is striking. Together, they are divine.”
In Reverie Haze, this balance is essential to its clarity and longevity. This philosophy allows Reverie Haze to feel both emotional and refined - a fragrance that connects instinctively while remaining technically sophisticated.
The Guiding Inspiration Behind Reverie Haze
Q: What was the core inspiration for this fragrance?
“I wanted to capture intimacy, the sensation of a white floral second skin.
Imagine tuberose petals unfolding into the air, radiant and tender. Around this bouquet, saffron’s golden warmth is hugging the skin, and a cascade of juicy tropical fruits unfolds alongside a grounding blend of patchouli and agarwood.
It is both luminous and sensual,
a skin you want to live in.”
Reverie Haze is inspired by a mist-shrouded garden at first light, when petals are cool with dew and the world feels hushed and expectant. The result is a scent that feels lived-in, comforting and quietly addictive.
The Creative Process Behind the Scent
Q: How did you find inspiration specifically for this fragrance?
Marc Daniel:
“Tuberose became my muse. Known as the mistress of the night, she is complex and unpredictable.
When the softly pink-coloured buds are in full bloom, you identify this unique creamy, honeyed white floral aroma, with even some medicinal or coconut facets.”
Marc Daniel speaks passionately about tuberose’s many facets, from the green, ethereal notes of the stems to the waxy closed bud and finally the narcotic bloom. This complexity became the emotional blueprint for Reverie Haze.
Emotion on the Skin
Q: How do you want people to feel when wearing Reverie Haze?
Marc Daniel:
“I want the fragrance to feel like a luminous second skin with a narcotic effect. A luminous, ethereal tuberose bouquet that releases its naturally delicious aura into the atmosphere.”
Rather than announcing itself loudly, Reverie Haze is designed to unfold slowly. It is a fragrance meant to be discovered, by the wearer and those drawn close.
The Most Surprising Notes
Q: Is there an ingredient that might surprise people?
Marc Daniel:
“Hidden beneath the floral radiance, I’ve woven roasted coffee, ripe dates, and the sacred smoke of incense. They infuse a deeper, unexpected emotion, like shadows that give the light its brilliance.”
These notes are not immediately obvious, but they add depth and intrigue.
Marc Daniel’s Personal Scent Journey
Q: What first drew you to scent?
Marc Daniel:
“My first memory is rain.”
Growing up in Berne, Marc Daniel was captivated by petrichor, the earthy aroma released when rain hits dry ground.
“I was enchanted by the city’s rose garden. I touched everything - leaves, stems, petals.”
His path to perfumery blended science and art: a decade working in food and aroma-chemical analysis, alongside passions for fashion, architecture, jazz and travel.
In the early 2000s, he began creating fragrances for major Middle Eastern brands, deepening his connection to oud, incense and classical perfumery traditions - influences that continue to shape his work today.
Looking Ahead: Fragrance Trends Beyond 2026
Q: Where do you see fragrance heading in the future?
Marc Daniel:
“Right now, the air is full of playful fruits and gourmand vanillas. Delightful, yes but we must be careful not to oversimplify.
True artistry lies in creations that stir layered emotions - joy, nostalgia, mystery, even awe. Consumers are searching not for sugar, but for soul.”
He believes the future of niche perfumery lies in emotional complexity.
With its depth, nuance and emotional resonance, Reverie Haze is very much part of that future.
