BEHIND THE SCENTS #5 shines the light on John Stephen, master perfumer and the creator of Auster by Electimuss.
John Stephen has over 50 years of experience as a creative perfumer, and is the ‘nose’ behind many fine fragrances in the niche market including Auster by Electimuss London. His passionate and creative talent is enriched with a keen interest in the science behind smell and the technical facets of perfumery too. John is one of only six independent perfumers in the UK, and his fragrances have been worn by perfume enthusiasts around the world including Yoko Ono, Donatella Versace and even Her Majesty The Queen.
His interest in fragrance started early and throughout his career he has been dedicated to exploring the boundaries and the complex blend of science and art that goes into creating new perfumes with resonance and originality. Auster is a perfect example of his work, exploring the depths of light and dark with a focus on harmonies and discords within the scent.
“Creating an exclusive scent is not just about using rare ingredients but making an individualistic statement.”jOHN STEPHEN
Spicy fruity floral with an earthy woody base
Late summer Mediterranean lemon groves and sweet geraniums lightly laced with star anise and cloves, transform into stormy skies with a fresh earthy base of patchouli, ambergris and cedar and a slightly leathery undertone.
This spicy and fruity floral is a complex blend of light and dark, opening with bright aromatic spices and citrus, a hint of floral and unfolds into a slightly sultry base.
Auster, the god of the south winds, is the embodiment of the hot Sirocco winds bringing powerful winds and storms from Africa into southern Europe.
An exquisite fragrance of light and dark taking your senses on a flight of fancy.
